The newly launched and highly awarded Oceanis 37.1
The Oceanis 37.1, which debuted at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival, is a versatile cruiser that is easy to sail and operate, while being spacious and very comfortable. It has won multiple awards and has been nominated for several prestigious honors in the US, UK, Europe, and Asia – including the Yacht Style Awards – and received the Best Exterior Design for under 50ft at the 2023 China Yacht Awards.
The Asia-Pacific premiere of the 37.1 occurred in March 2024, presented by First Marine at the Japan International Boat Show in Yokohama, while the Australian debut by Flagstaff Marine was featured at the Sydney International Boat Show in August.
The hull features a flare with a rib to provide fluid lines, enhanced power, and improved stability.
This year, Asiamarine was appointed the new distributor for Beneteau sailing yachts in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand, with NextWave becoming the new dealer for Beneteau’s motor yachts. Simpson Marine has represented Beneteau in Asia for nearly 40 years and will continue to support the many Beneteau owners in the region.
According to Beneteau: “Renewing a model is challenging, especially when the previous one, the Oceanis 38.1, was a best-seller during its nine years. The guidelines given to [naval architect] Marc Lombard and Nauta Design focused on two main aspects: increased volume and enhanced performance.”
The new 37-footer builds on innovations from the seventh generation of Oceanis cruisers, rounding out the series. As the eighth model launched since 2017, the Oceanis 37.1 retains all the signature features of the line and introduces eco-friendly options, such as an optional electric motor and a sustainable Iroko-wood slatted cockpit floor.
Iroko, an African wood, replaces traditional teak. Using a new assembly method called Iro-Deck, which Beneteau perfected, it provides a uniform color, excellent sustainability, and eliminates the risk of cracks found in solid wood decks.
The deck is spacious and easy to maneuver without traditional back stays – a design successfully used in the Oceanis 30.1 and Oceanis 34.1. The double spreaders on the Oceanis 37.1 deliver exceptional performance.
The feeling of openness is accentuated by the central table in the large cockpit, which spans over 3 meters. For swimming at anchor, the helm seats can be raised, and the wide pathway leads to a lowered bathing platform, offering safety and convenience for a pleasant swim.
The 3-meter cockpit features a table for enjoying meals while anchored.
To facilitate easy sailing when short-handed, the rigging is brought back to the two aft winches, with only the halyards remaining positioned around the coachroof. All instruments, including a seven-inch plotter, are located on the starboard helm console.
The hull is designed with a flared rib, creating a streamlined look below the water and providing enhanced power and stability. This design also boosts the hull’s rigidity, manages weight effectively, and increases interior volume in the bow.
The interior volume is impressive, creating a saloon space nearly equivalent in size to that of a 40-footer. The port-side saloon features a relaxing sofa and a comfortable table for six, situated opposite the galley.
The forward cabin boasts a view of the horizon, thanks to two large hull portholes. In the two-bathroom configuration, a spacious double bed is located on the starboard side against the hull. The stern design focuses on comfort, featuring a king-size double bed and a large sail locker accessible from both inside and outside.
The standard version includes a self-tacking jib, simplifying cruising. Meanwhile, the First Line version offers a square-top mainsail and furled genoa, which increases the sail area by 22 percent.
The Oceanis 37.1 can be equipped with an electric engine, featuring a 12kW pod drive and 10 kilowatt-hour batteries, providing a cruising range of up to two hours at 5 knots between charges, all without emissions and in silent, eco-friendly operation.
The new Seanapps app assists sailors in enjoying their boating hobby. With a simple tap, they can connect, monitor, and order various services for their boat—from routine maintenance and wash requests to fuel and urgent repairs in select markets.
