Bacardi continues its commitment to young, skilled Star Class sailors in their journey toward success through the Bacardi Cup U30 Program 2025.
Launched in 2023, the Bacardi Cup U30 Program aims to support promising young sailors in pursuing their racing dreams at the esteemed Bacardi Cup in Miami, USA. This initiative offers complimentary entry to the regatta and provides financial assistance to a selected number of teams worldwide to help cover event expenses.
“Bacardi is dedicated to ensuring its events promote opportunity and diversity, enabling young athletes from various countries to shine,” stated Eddie Cutillas, Bacardi USA.
“Our shared mission with the International Star Class is to inspire and provide direct support to cultivate young sailors,” Cutillas added. “Creating chances for the next generation has been central to our nearly century-long partnership with sailing. Bacardi is committed to aiding young sailors in their ascent, and we’re eager to help in making their Star Class racing ambitions a reality.”
Since the program started, Bacardi has aided numerous teams in competing at the Bacardi Cup from across the globe. Furthermore, Bacardi extends its support beyond the Bacardi Cup by offering the highest-placed U30 team additional financial resources to participate in the following Star Class World Championship. The 2025 Star Class Worlds are scheduled for September 8-14 in Split, Croatia.
Join us for sailing
The 98th Bacardi Cup will occur from March 2-8, 2025, at the Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami. The event features a six-race series and is famous for thrilling racing and lively après-sail. The regatta draws an impressive array of sailing icons, World Champions, Olympians, and casual sailors, all against the backdrop of Miami’s pleasant spring climate, consistent breeze, and Bacardi’s celebrated hospitality.
Collaboration with the Star Class
The Bacardi Cup U30 Program operates in conjunction with the Star Education and Access (SEA) Program by Schoonmaker. This SEA Program provides a complete Star Class boat to assist in the transition into the class. It targets experienced sailors new to the Star Class who will race in multiple regattas, or teams from abroad participating in a one-time regatta in the USA. The SEA by Schoonmaker pilot program launched in 2024 in South Florida.
