Austal Delivers 32m ‘Ocean Master’ Catamaran to Rottnest Fast Ferries

Austal Philippines has successfully delivered the 32-meter ‘Ocean Master’ catamaran to Rottnest Fast Ferries, completing construction in under 12 months at its Balamban, Cebu shipyard.

The vessel, named ‘Ocean Master’ and designed by Incat Crowther, was officially accepted by Rottnest Fast Ferries representatives following successful sea trials completed in November 2024.

Wayne Murray, President of Austal Asia, praised the Austal Philippines team for delivering a high-quality vessel efficiently, exceeding productivity and construction standards.

“The Austal Philippines team has delivered this remarkable new catamaran in under 12 months—surpassing productivity expectations while upholding the highest standards of construction and product quality,” Mr. Murray stated.

“With this latest delivery, Austal Philippines has provided 22 vessels to 13 operators globally, including catamarans and trimarans ranging from 21 to 118 metres. The shipyard is also equipped and skilled in providing ongoing support for both commercial and defense vessels, including repairs, maintenance, and refits using the 100-metre floating dock, Lewek Hercules.

“We extend our warmest congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Rottnest Fast Ferries on the delivery of ‘Ocean Master’ and wish the crew ‘fair winds and following seas’ as they return to operate between Hillarys and Rottnest Island.”

The 32-meter ‘Ocean Master’ accommodates 400 passengers and 5 crew members across three spacious decks. Designed with ample cargo space for bicycles and luggage, the vessel is powered by two 1029kW MAN D2862 diesel engines, achieving speeds of up to 25 knots for the 45-minute route from Hillarys Boat Harbour to Rottnest Island, Western Australia.
