The Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team has unveiled a first glimpse of its ‘vibrant’ F50 design, which draws inspiration from Brazil’s colors and ‘spirit’.

The design was crafted by Brazilian designer Fred Gelli from Tátil Design, who also curated the branding for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games and played a role as one of the creative directors for the opening and closing ceremonies.

Commenting on the F50 design, Gelli mentioned it was an ‘opportunity’ to showcase Brazil ‘in a powerful and authentic manner’.

“The boat embodies this distinctive blend of curves, colors, and essence, infused with a hint of Brazilian ‘borogodó’ – an element that surprises and enchants,” he stated.

Graphic designer Daniel Escudero highlighted ‘Brazilian features’ in the design, such as the nation’s wildlife. “We envisioned the perception of a boat soaring over the water very similarly to a bird gliding above the surface,” he remarked.

Team CEO Alan Adler noted that the current array of F50 designs was ‘lacking a certain vibrancy, a more joyful essence’.

“When I think of Brazil, joy always comes to mind – I believe that was our primary objective with our design,” he explained.

The Brazilian F50 will make its racing debut at the beginning of the 2025 Season during the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix Presented by P&O Marinas on November 23/24.
