Dutch shipyard Van der Valk has recently unveiled an exclusive first look at their custom-built 34.1-meter yacht, One, following its delivery late last year.
Initially known as Project 111.11, One was commissioned by seasoned yacht owners with over thirty years of maritime experience. These owners played an integral role in the design phase, collaborating closely with Guido de Groot for the yacht’s functional exterior and Carla Guilhem for the luxurious interior.
One was launched in June 2024
While the owners initially sought a slightly larger vessel from the shipyard, they ultimately struck a balance that aligns with “Van der Valk’s sweet spot for a slightly smaller size.” Yoeri Bijker, head of sales at Van der Valk, explained that the owners aimed to “merge their personal style with a tried-and-true hull form.”
The outcome is a full-displacement superyacht built on the same acclaimed hull design as the award-winning Lady Lene. This design serves as the foundation for a fully customized superstructure featuring four decks. One captivates with its straight lines, forward-facing angles, and expansive windows on the lower deck complemented by lowered bulwarks that bask the interior in natural light.
Accommodations are designed to comfortably host up to 10 guests across five staterooms, including a generous full-beam master suite on the main deck complete with a walk-in wardrobe. The design has transformed from its original vision, shifting “away from organic shapes and towards imperfect geometric forms,” as noted by Guilhem.
“We aimed for a futuristic aesthetic characterized by super-smooth rounded shapes and a monochrome color scheme, with accents and frames that highlight the neutral tones,” she remarked. The yacht also boasts statement pieces throughout, like striking sculptural chairs, an elliptical chandelier gracing the lounge, and a recessed oval feature in the master suite.
The layout is tailored for entertaining large gatherings, featuring a skylounge, a main deck saloon, and a multifunctional beach club that doubles as a sports garage.
To maximize space in the aft area, the yacht will be accompanied by a chase boat instead of a traditional onboard tender. This arrangement allows for a fold-out platform and a lazarette designed to accommodate Jet Skis and a gym.
Powering One are two Volvo Penta 750hp engines, enabling a top speed of 14.4 knots. With a gross tonnage just under 300GT, One meets commercial charter standards, eliminating the need for a rescue tender or davit.
