The Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race has opened registration for the classic event on April 25 – 27, 2025.

The Newport Ocean Sailing Association (NOSA) will provide two race options: one to Ensenada, Mexico and another to San Diego. Details for registration and the official Notice of Races can now be found at www.nosa.org.

As one of the longest-standing sailing competitions, the Newport to Ensenada Race takes place every April between Newport Beach, California, and Ensenada, Mexico. This international yacht race is among the world’s largest, frequently attracting over 600 boats and participants from across the globe.

The course to Ensenada spans around 135 nautical miles and accommodates a variety of sailboats, ranging from small cruisers to larger racing yachts, while the San Diego course is 90 miles long. Trophies are awarded in categories such as multi-hulls, double-handed, cruising class, all-female crews, along with PHRF and ORR classes. This springtime classic presents a thrilling and demanding overnight offshore sailing adventure.

To assist boat owners and crews in their preparation for the race, NOSA will conduct a series of N2E Race Seminars at yacht clubs from San Diego to Los Angeles. These sessions will address unique race challenges, offer expert night racing tips, and review essential safety equipment to ensure a competitive environment for crews of all skill levels. Each seminar will start at 7 PM and run for 90 minutes. Registration can be completed at www.nosa.org/seminars.

January 23rd – Seal Beach Yacht Club
January 30th – Silver Gate Yacht Club

With a rich heritage dating back to 1948, the race has gained recognition as a prominent event within the west coast sailing community. The largest fleet recorded occurred in the mid-1980s, featuring over 600 yachts. This year, organizers anticipate around 200 participants across both race routes. The event combines competitive excitement with the stunning coastal views of Southern California and Mexico.

Whether you are an experienced sailor or simply an admirer, the Newport to Ensenada Yacht Race is a must-see event. It highlights the talent and commitment of sailors while offering a chance to enjoy the camaraderie and excitement of offshore racing.
