Our video archive is extensively searchable and refreshed weekly with the newest sailing videos, but this week we look back to discover the oldest footage available. Our focus is on youth and children.

In light of this, we would also like to highlight some wonderful charities that provide vital support for our youth:

Since it was just two weeks ago, let’s also remember Children in Need. Each of these organizations would appreciate any contributions you can provide.

In chronological order, here are some of the best videos we managed to locate:

Children’s rowing and sailing competitions at Thorpeness, UK from the 1930s feature authentic ‘Swallows and Amazons’ style boats!

Scottish schools and universities battling it out on the Clyde, Scotland – 1955

Boys from the 1950s constructing their own dinghies – Zaandijk, Netherlands.

Two boys sailing a VJ in Sydney Harbour – while this is fictional rather than factual, it’s still enjoyable to witness the sailing.

Cowes Week 1967 highlights youth, although some footage includes adult sailing.

Puffin Junior Frostbite Regatta 1968 held at Southend-on-Sea, UK.

Manly Juniors 1979 – rigging and sailing (with narration) – Australia.

What about the others?

Are you aware of other old videos from the analog period? We would be thrilled to share these with sailors around the globe. You can send us video links for immediate assessment.
