Modscape’s Cliff House in Australia Exemplifies Living Life on the Edge
“Live life on the edge,” they often say. Modscape’s Cliff House embodies this notion. Australian architectural experts, Modscape Concept, have crafted an exhilarating five-story vacation residence that extends over the brink of a cliff, offering breathtaking views of the South Pacific Ocean.
“The distinctive location also provides the home’s inhabitants with an amazing link to the ocean below, while addressing construction challenges linked to building on uneven rock,” stated Modscape Concept. Indeed, extending from the top of the cliff like an unusual outgrowth of the rocks, Modscape’s Cliff House in Australia is a literal piece of luxury seafront property with “a true connection to the ocean.”
While it appears thrilling yet precarious, this impressive home commands stunning views of the Australian coastline, offering an undeniably lavish panorama to awaken to. Many may wonder how this residence was constructed at a glance, and the solution lies in engineered steel pins.
This three-bedroom residence features just one entry point, accessible through the carport, located on the uppermost floor of the building. The owners can access each level of the house via an elevator, which includes an en suite bathroom in the bedroom, a separate bathroom, dining area, lounge, kitchen, spa, and a barbecue space.
Modscape draws its name from its distinctive modular design philosophy, rooted in sustainability and efficiency. The firm was tasked with reimagining its standard modular layout for Cliff House due to its isolated coastal setting in Australia. Environmental conditions were also taken into account. Leading architect Maxwell Hutchinson informed the BBC that the innovative design is practical despite the risk of coastal erosion.
This is an extraordinary real estate project, but unfortunately, it remains a concept by Modscape. It is intended to be constructed from prefabricated modules stacked like building blocks, and akin to barnacles clinging to ship hulls, the Modscape Cliff House metaphorically represents the waterfront lifestyle.
