The yearly fall festival in San Diego, referred to as the “Hot Rum Series,” commenced this weekend, organized by the San Diego Yacht Club.

One hundred twenty-two boats are taking part in this series of races over three weekends, held on Saturdays. The format is a straightforward “pursuit style” race where the slower boats begin first, and the fast boats start later; the first boat to cross the finish line wins. As has historically been the case, the classic seabreeze typically favors the larger, faster boats starting last.

The fleet includes thirty-five J/Teams, making up 29.0% of the total.

PHRF Overall – Podium Sweep!
A trio of J/teams captured the top three positions to sweep the podium! The winner was Jim Madden’s J/100 STARK RAVING MAD, followed by Jim Dorsey’s J/105 J-AQUATIC in second place and Mike Hatch’s J/105 J-ALMIGHTY in third! Ed Sanford’s CREATIVE secured seventh place.
