Today, four races were successfully completed by the Nacra 17 fleet at the European Championships, which are currently taking place at the Sferracavallo Sailing Club in Palermo and are set to conclude on Sunday.

After a quiet day yesterday with no races held, today’s events commenced at 10 a.m. with all 18 teams on the water. These four races added to the two completed on Wednesday, totaling six and showcasing the competitors’ technical proficiencies and teamwork.

The provisional standings saw notable changes, although the Dutch team of Willemijn Offerman and Scipio Houtman retained their top position. Following a strong performance today, Italian sailors Gianluigi Ugolini and Maria Giubilei ascended to second place, closely trailed by the Belgian pair Kwinten and Lieselotte Borghijs in third. The Austrian team, featuring Laura Farese and Matthäus Zöchling, is currently in fourth.

This event, hosted by the Sferracavallo Sailing Club in partnership with the Nacra 17 class association and the Department of Tourism and Sport of the City of Palermo, has attracted 18 boats and 36 athletes from around the world. Competing nations include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States.

The first warning signal for tomorrow is set for 10 a.m., with four races arranged.
