With just four months remaining, registration is open for Foiling Week Pensacola 2025, a multi-class “World Sailing Special Event” set to take place in Florida from February 24th to March 2nd, 2025.
Transitioning to its new U.S. location, Foiling Week will introduce the thrill of innovative foiling technology and exciting watersports to Florida’s lively coastline.
Sailors competing in Moth, WASZP, A-Class Catamaran, BirdyFish, and Nacra 15 FCS can now confirm their entry by signing up at foilingweek.com. Additional mono and multihull foiling classes will be announced shortly.
The regatta will qualify for North American Championships for Moth, WASZP, and Nacra 15 FCS participants.
Races will occur in the Bay, while the boards will ride the Gulf of Mexico’s waves in front of the Pensacola Beach Hilton Hotel. The water organization will be overseen by Tim Hancock, Foiling Week’s Principal Race Officer, with assistance from the Pensacola Yacht Club and Pensacola Beach Yacht Club.
Terry Hutchinson, Skipper of the NYYC American Magic AC Team and President of Sailing Operations, stated: “American Magic is thrilled about Foiling Week here in Pensacola and on Pensacola Bay, our training base for several years. Foiling enthusiasts will witness what we already know: Pensacola Bay is ideal for developing all types of sailboats. American Magic eagerly anticipates supporting this event and observing this progression.”
Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves remarked: “Hosting such a distinguished international event highlights Pensacola’s burgeoning reputation as a center for maritime innovation and our dedication to nurturing a dynamic and welcoming community. We are proud to display our city’s natural beauty, diverse cultural heritage, and famous hospitality to global visitors.”
During the weekend, the Public Village at Pensacola’s Maritime Park will offer opportunities to watch intense races, meet sailing stars and participants, explore an expo featuring the latest high-tech nautical gear and apparel, attend discussions on foiling advancements, enjoy live music, as well as the Pensacola Mardi Gras celebrations, with over 100,000 attendees expected. Key program features include sustainability, inclusivity, clinics, youth and women’s coaching, and technical workshops.
Participants, visitors, and exhibitors can find essential details about the venue and event attendance planning at the official destination marketing organization for Escambia County, “Visit Pensacola,” website: www.visitpensacola.com.
Luca Rizzotti, Founder and President of We Are Foiling, the organization behind Foiling Week, expressed: “Foiling transcends the thrill of competition; it represents innovation driving progress in maritime transport, ecological projects, and our profound connection with the sea.”
Throughout the event, enthusiasts will have the chance to test boards and boats under the guidance of experienced instructors.
Continuing its tradition of aligning each edition with a socially pertinent theme, Foiling Week Pensacola 2025 will focus on #regeneration, a global sustainability strategy aimed at resolving the climate crisis by 2030.
Foiling Week Pensacola enjoys support from: City of Pensacola – Florida, Escambia County, Pensacola Yacht Club, Pensacola Beach Yacht Club, and Sail Pensacola.
Foiling Week is the premier global event devoted to extraordinary foiling vessels, their sailors, designers, and manufacturers.
In 2021, the “World Sailing” organization recognized it as a Special Event, akin to what Grand Slam tournaments mean in tennis.
Thus far, eleven editions have been organized in Europe by “We Are Foiling”, the ecosystem of projects and events in the Foiling World.
Foiling Week Pensacola is organized in collaboration with “Sail Pensacola”, which promotes competitive sailing, technology, and economic advancement for Pensacola Bay.
