The Semi-Finalists from Group A of the Youth America’s Cup have been determined following races in brisk conditions off the coast of Barcelona.
Italy, the USA, and Great Britain will vie for the Semi-Final alongside the leading three from Group B.
Racing also occurred in the B Fleet for teams not associated with America’s Cup squads.
The top three teams from both A and B groups will compete in the Series Semi-Final.
A more favorable forecast is expected on Monday for the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup.
Winds of 8-12 knots were predicted to stabilize from the South, but a significant (0.8m) off-axis sea state posed challenges for competitors. The wind increased beyond predictions, reaching 18 knots, testing the crews and enabling impressive foiling.
Both fleets, A and B, raced today to make up for lost time due to bad weather or failure to meet the 7.5 knot minimum wind requirement.
