The three finalists from Group A of the Youth America’s Cup have been determined after racing in brisk conditions off Barcelona.
Italy, USA, and Great Britain will compete in the Final alongside the top three from Group B.
Racing also took place for the B Fleet, consisting of teams not affiliated with America’s Cup teams.
The leading three teams from both A and B groups will meet for the Series Final.
A more favorable forecast was available for Monday in the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup.
Winds of 8-12 knots were anticipated from the South; however, there was a significant (0.8m) off-axis sea state to challenge the competitors. The wind proved stronger than predicted, reaching 18 knots and testing the crews, resulting in some remarkable foiling.
Both A and B fleets raced today, striving to make up for the racing lost since the series commenced due to poor weather or not meeting the 7.5-knot minimum wind limit.
