LLGF Isla 18 Class

The nonprofit organization Ladies Let’s Go Fishing Foundation is set to host a class this October in the Florida Keys to help aspiring anglers learn skills, practice, and enjoy fishing.

The “No-Yelling School of Fishing” will occur from October 18-20 at the beautiful waterfront Elks Lodge in Tavernier, Florida. The school features classroom presentations, two networking events, hands-on skill exercises, and optional charter boat fishing. No prior experience or equipment is required.

Optional charter fishing trips out of Islamorada, Florida, will be available on Friday and Sunday, with prizes awarded for those participating in the LLGF Fishing Fever tournament on both days.

Friday evening will kick off with a networking social and an appetizer contest. Indoor presentations will start Saturday morning at 9 am, covering key topics such as offshore, inshore, and bottom fishing, fishing fundamentals, and conservation. Speakers will include Captains Lee Lavery, Melinda Buckley, Jeanne Towne, and other experts.

What makes this program unique compared to conventional fishing courses is its hands-on fishing experiences led by several guides, focusing on skills like releasing fish, knot tying, dehooking, bait rigging, spin casting, grapefruiting, cast netting, and backing a trailer. Another networking event will follow at Seaside Glassworks.

On both Friday and Sunday, optional inshore and offshore fishing charters will be available from Whale Harbor, accompanied by a filleting demonstration.

The early bird registration fee of $125 per person is available online. The standard registration is $145. Women can bring a male guest or teenagers to welcome their entire family.
