Sea Pro Boats is making significant strides in South Carolina with a large expansion to increase production capabilities for bigger center-console boats.

The new facility in Winnsboro, South Carolina, marks the company’s second plant, as they have been manufacturing center-console fishing boats for three decades. This facility is located off State Highway 34 East, while their existing one is in Whitmire, roughly 40 miles distant.

“We are thrilled about the chance to extend our operations into Fairfield County. As natives of the South Carolina Central Midlands, Jimmy Hancock and I are honored to have a growing business where we can create jobs and opportunities for our friends and neighbors,” said Preston Wrenn, co-owner of Sea Pro, in a statement. “Winnsboro seemed to be the perfect location for us to bring some positivity to a community that shares our pride in boat manufacturing. We hope that this expansion will act as an additional pillar supporting South Carolina as a leader in global manufacturing.”

The $3 million facility, anticipated to finish by June, will focus on crafting boats over 24 feet in length. Sea Pro currently offers six models ranging from 17 to 26 feet, and as industry trends favor larger vessels, the company plans to unveil bigger models.

The new manufacturing site is projected to generate 135 new jobs in the area.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits linked to this project. Additionally, a grant from the Rural Infrastructure Fund amounting to $1.25 million was awarded to Fairfield County to aid in the endeavor.

“Today is special when a company opts to expand in our state, demonstrating our strong workforce and supportive business climate essential for growth and success,” remarked South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster in a statement. “Sea Pro Boats, LLC is a commendable South Carolina company, and we celebrate their investment that will create 135 more jobs in Fairfield County.”
