Feadship has successfully launched the 59.5-meter superyacht B from its facilities in De Vries, Netherlands. The yacht is currently on its way to Malta, an archipelago located in the central Mediterranean.
B utilizes solar energy and HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil), marking another significant milestone in Feadship’s commitment to achieving net-zero yacht construction by 2030.
The design of the yacht is a collaboration between Sinot and Studio De Voogt, with the owner significantly influencing both the yacht’s design and its environmental credentials.
The yacht is part of a series of sustainability-focused vessels that Feadship has introduced over the past year, starting with the HVO-powered Obsidian, the fuel-cell-equipped Project 821, and the hybrid-electric certified Project 1012.
B is the first Feadship to feature solar panels for auxiliary power generation, which the shipyard claims are among the most efficient and durable available on the market. Custom-manufactured in the Netherlands, the solar panels can generate up to 24 MWh annually.
The diesel-electric system allows both propulsion and hotel loads to be powered by four generators and a 400 kWh battery. The yacht boasts an impressive YETI (Yacht Environmental Transparency Index) score, placing it in the top 35 percent of the fleet, and like all new Feadships, it can operate on non-fossil HVO.
According to BOATPro, Feadship has 14 yachts currently under construction or on order.
