Grady-White has been steadily refreshing its Canyon center-console series, with the latest addition being the Canyon 386, which premiered at the 2023 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The Canyon 386 builds on the previous Canyon 376 model, creating a center console that merges serious fishing capabilities with leisure time spent with family and friends on the water. Launched in 2009, the Canyon 376 was a hit and consistently sold out, prompting the builder in Greenville, N.C., to consider an upgrade.

The Canyon series includes six models, starting at 27 feet and going up to the flagship Canyon 456 at 45 feet. Grady-White’s product designer, Christian Carraway, led the update of the new 386, focusing mainly on the cockpit area.4 15630 my24 canyon386 qtp0989 helmw

“The fantastic response to the Canyon 456 inspired us to incorporate similar elements and refresh this model,” said Shelley Tubaugh, the marketing vice president. “However, as we started this process, we recognized that the hull was excellent and performed well. People refer to it as the battlewagon, the beast. With the hull being great, the next challenge was reimagining the interior completely.”

Focusing on the interior design, the team increased the cockpit space of the Canyon 386 (36’ 6” LOA and 13’ 2” beam). This allowed Grady-White to install a fourth bolster seat across – a rare feature for a boat of this width – while still ensuring easy access around the console.

“You can see that they actually molded this area,” Tubaugh mentioned. “We successfully enlarged the cockpit area.”

The updated console features a full-height wraparound windshield, and Grady-White has removed some supporting struts to enhance visibility. The new AV2 T-top covers the entire beam, comfortably accommodating four adjustable deluxe contoured chairs. It comes equipped with a see-through hatch, a storage net, a radio box, six rod holders, as well as recessed and LED spreader lights. A SureShade is included as standard.

Entry to the cabin is achieved via a sliding door facing aft; descending the curved stairs reveals U-shaped seating that converts into a double berth, as well as a galley outfitted with a stainless-steel sink, microwave, and refrigerator. For entertainment, a 24-inch television has been incorporated.16 15640 my24 canyon386 qtp1134 cabin entryw

The enclosed head in the Canyon 386 rivals larger models, complete with a stand-up shower, a porcelain toilet, and a sink. Additional comforts like air conditioning and a Seakeeper 5 gyro stabilizer come standard with the Canyon 386.

“This is genuinely a weekend cabin now, even more so than previous models,” Tubaugh stated.

boarding is straightforward, thanks to port and starboard side doors equipped with boarding ladders, which are included as standard. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the two 35-gallon live wells, a 291-quart insulated refrigerator/freezer fish box, and an expansive lean bar fitted with rod holders, knife and plier storage, and a Corian countertop. A sink is included, and Grady-White offers an optional grill.3 15636 my24 canyon386 qtp1013w

The bow area is designed for both comfort and fishing, featuring a luxury diamond-stitched lounge for two with pull-down armrests, complemented by electrically adjustable backrests on the port and starboard lounge seats. For fishing enthusiasts, insulated fish boxes and a casting platform are essential, while an optional electrically adjustable fiberglass bow table appeals to those who prefer a relaxed cruise.

Regarding propulsion, Grady-White has opted for triple Yamaha XTO Offshore 450 classic white engines for the Canyon 386. It cruises smoothly at 50 mph with a projected top speed of 60 mph. With a fuel capacity of 410 gallons, the Canyon 386 boasts an excellent range.

The Canyon series has been immensely popular for Grady-White, and it’s clear why, given its robust build quality, high performance, and versatility. The Canyon 386 upholds this legacy.
