In line with its commitment to Sailing for Change, Lagoon has unveiled a newly created, environmentally friendly series: Renovate Lagoon catamarans at the Groupe Beneteau shipyard, giving them a second lease on life.

The inaugural model to undergo this revitalization is a Lagoon 620 from 2012.

What is the Lagoon Neo program: the reasons, location, and methodology?

A Lagoon is designed for durability! Already recognized for the top-notch construction and strong resale value of its models, Lagoon is further enhancing its commitment by organizing and structuring its refurbishment operations in Monfalcone, Italy.

Here at the Groupe Beneteau shipyard, chosen for its ideal Mediterranean location and expertise in large yacht construction, a 2012 Lagoon 620 (Firefly) will be the first vessel to benefit from this new initiative. It was repurchased by Lagoon in February 2024 after a dozen years of service, split between private ownership and a charter company, allowing the project team to initiate the Lagoon NEO program.

What does the Lagoon NEO Program involve?

Leveraging our 40 years of expertise in catamaran construction, Lagoon will adhere to the same quality standards used for new catamarans while establishing a new procedure:

Each boat will undergo expert evaluation to determine the work required.
Materials and software upgrades will align with current standards and expectations.
More than 70% of non-installed equipment will be reused.
Each boat will undergo the same rigorous testing as a new boat.

Upon leaving the shipyard, the boat will feel brand new, complete with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Three types of packages will be offered, depending on the customer’s desired level of refurbishment:

Standard package

Complete structural audit
State-of-the-art electrical systems
Seanapps
Interior refresh
New or refurbished key equipment

Silent package: Standard package + Lithium batteries and solar panels
Premium package: Silent package + Hull paint

Each boat in the Lagoon NEO program will require approximately 4 to 6 months of work.

The manufacturer’s warranty provided with the NEO program will be backed by the international Lagoon dealer network, an extensive and unparalleled network of marine professionals with over 230 service locations worldwide.

The Start of a New Strategic Initiative

The Lagoon 620 has been selected as the first model for this initiative. Other models will soon be added to the Lagoon NEO product lineup. This program aims to evolve into a fully independent entity within the Groupe Beneteau.

Now, owners of a Lagoon 620 (and eventually other qualifying models) can entrust their catamaran to Lagoon Neo for refurbishment, allowing them to retrieve it months later for a fresh start, complete with a manufacturer’s warranty.

Sailing for Change

The Lagoon NEO initiative is part of a larger strategic project—Sailing for Change—that promotes more sustainable cruising: certification of production facilities, innovations in bio-sourced/recycled materials, research into alternative propulsion technologies, eco-friendly equipment, and partnerships with organizations dedicated to marine ecosystem protection—efforts our team pursues daily, all components of the Groupe Beneteau’s strategic plan aimed at reducing our carbon footprint by 30% by 2030.

With the end-of-life considerations of our catamarans central to our approach in both development and production, the Lagoon NEO initiative is a product of this philosophy. Known for their reliability and durability, Lagoons are ideal candidates for this new chapter.
