Dutch shipyard Van der Valk has unveiled the initial interior designs for a new custom project called Project Samba, measuring 35.3 metres. This yacht, which was purchased by an experienced owner in 2023, is based on the same hull design as the award-winning Lady Lene. Guido de Groot, a long-time collaborator, is responsible for the naval architecture.
Construction of Project Samba is currently in progress, with a planned delivery date in the summer of 2025. Once completed, the yacht is expected to offer three generations of a family a serene and relaxing life on the water, as stated by the shipyard.
The interiors of Project Samba are being handled by Guido de Groot in conjunction with the owners. Initial renderings showcase an elegant and functional design featuring curved, sleek furniture, light woods, and ambient lighting with integrated LEDs. The yacht will include accommodation for up to five cabins, with a main deck master suite complete with an office and lounge area.
The outdoor living spaces are a focal point of Project Samba’s design, including integrated balconies near the wheelhouse, a custom swimming platform, and an aft deck featuring a relaxation lounge zone with a sofa and dining table. Below deck, a beach club will offer additional lounge space, a sauna, a day head, and laundry facilities.
The galley on board is set to be frequently utilized by the owners and will feature ample work surfaces and a cooking island. A central staircase from the lower deck to the bridge deck is described as a piece of art in its own right by the shipyard.
Project Samba was introduced to Van der Valk by Will Noftsinger from Denison Yachting. The yacht is expected to achieve speeds of up to 17 knots and offers the option of a full or fast displacement vessel.
Van der Valk’s head of sales, Yoeri Bijker, explained, “The proven hull design and naval architecture platform allows us to offer the choice between a full or fast displacement vessel. Using the engineering packages and part of the cutting files generates significant cost synergies yet allows for an entirely different look and feel. It’s a highly efficient way of building that provides clients with exceptional freedom to customize their yacht above the waterline.”
In addition to Project Samba, Van der Valk recently launched another custom build named One, measuring 34.1 meters. The sale of One was announced concurrently with Project Samba.
