According to BOATPro data, there is a 70 percent increase in the number of larger yachts (40 metres and above) expected to attend the Cannes Yachting Festival compared to last year’s numbers.

In 2023, the show had 10 yachts measuring 40 metres or more, and this year, that number has risen to 17. This trend appears to follow last year’s observations, where visiting yards and brokers noted a growing consumer interest in larger yachts. However, no confirmed yachts over 50 metres are scheduled for this year’s event, in contrast to the two that attended last year.

Yachts attending by size categories

24m – 30m: 44

30 – 40m: 37

40 – 50m: 17

This year, a total of 98 yachts are expected across Vieux Port and Port Canto, with more last-minute entries likely to be announced soon. This could align 2024’s figures more closely with 2023’s, which had 109 yachts total.

The largest yacht at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival is currently the 45-metre Go from Tankoa.

Motor yachts are set to dominate the display at Cannes, with only three confirmed sailing yachts (24 metres and above) attending, a significant drop from 12 last year. Nevertheless, the showcased yachts include notable industry innovations, such as Nautor Swan’s debut hybrid sailing yacht, the 28.3-metre Swan 88 Dreamcatcher, designed for both performance and comfort, featuring “feminine exterior lines” created by veteran designer German Frers.

As reported by BOATPro, the average LOA has increased by 5.1 percent this year to 32.9 metres, while the average GT has risen by 15.6 percent to 222GT. The largest new yacht expected this year is the 45-metre Go, the first of Tankoa’s T450 series, making its global debut in Cannes after being delivered to its North American owner earlier this year (2024).

Nautor Swan’s debut hybrid sailing yacht, Dreamcatcher, will be showcased in Cannes.

This year has also seen a rise in debuting yachts, increasing from 18 in 2023 to 24 so far in 2024. Alongside Go, notable new entries include Cantiere delle Marche’s first Flexplorer 146 yacht, the 44.3-metre Maverick, and the second Columbus Atlantique 43 yacht, Frette.

Other debuts include Ocean King’s first Doge 400 GT yacht, Lori, with BOATPro noting a second unit in the series already under construction, and Telli, the first hull from Custom Line’s Navetta 38 series, which revamps the popular Navetta 37 series.

“With two weeks remaining until the Festival kicks off, we eagerly await our visitors and exhibitors,” said festival director Sylvie Ernoult. “As in previous years, the Cannes Yachting Festival starts the season with a diverse range of offerings. We are proud to host nearly 700 boats, including 120 world premieres and 640 exhibitors. Our attendees will experience the crème de la crème of the marine industry, featuring renowned boat builders and equipment manufacturers, as well as new entrants eager to showcase their designs.”
