Entry for the 2025 Finn World Masters, set to take place in Medemblik, The Netherlands, from June 13-20, has officially commenced.
The entry form has been available online for a few weeks, generating rapid interest; within the first week alone, 125 entries were received, marking the quickest 100 entries in the class’s history.
Currently, there are nearly 160 participants registered from 16 nations. You can enter here.
This eagerly anticipated event represents the third attempt by the Dutch to host the World Masters in recent years, with previous attempts canceled due to the pandemic. This time, however, it looks to be a success with the largest Finn fleet ever expected.
Organising Committee President Jan Zetzema stated, “Welcome to Holland. The FWM2025 provides an opportunity to reconnect with fellow Finn masters and explore the unique sailing venue of the IJsselmeer, famous for its excellent racing conditions.”
“The Royal Hollandia will expertly organize the races in collaboration with the Finn Club Holland. With an expected turnout of 350-400 competitors, possibly more, races will be conducted across two courses in four fleets. An international jury of 16 members will oversee proceedings from eight ribs.
“Currently, 158 Finn sailors have signed up. If rumors pan out, many more are planning to compete in Medemblik. To assist us in planning efficiently, we urge everyone to register promptly.
“And here’s a small incentive: all who register and pay by February 1st will have the chance to win a free Finn Master hoody or a 50% discount on the entry fee. Two lucky entrants will be drawn from the early registration list.
“Don’t miss out on this remarkable event. See you in Medemblik.”
Among the over 150 entries received thus far is Pieter-Jan Postma, the 2022 Masters Champion from The Netherlands, alongside 1996 Olympic Bronze medalist Roy Heiner and 2023 European Masters Champion Peter Peet. This event is anticipated to attract the most competitive Masters fleet ever, drawing many former sailors due to the large fleet.
Andy Denison, IFA Vice President responsible for the Masters, remarked, “This is set to break all records, and we’ve already begun. With 125 entries in the first week without any promotion, Medemblik is on track to host the largest Finn event in history.
“They have started to prepare additional beer for 400 thirsty Finn sailors at the 2025 World Masters. Holland won’t know what has hit them. A Finn influx has begun.”
This event is poised to be a landmark occasion for the class, an unmissable opportunity. It’s surely going to be monumental, and what self-respecting Finn master sailor wouldn’t want to be part of the most significant Finn event ever? It promises to be an epic moment in history.
Entry officially opened, along with the Notice of Race, on December 1 via Manage2Sail, with all links accessible through the event website at fwm2025.com.
