The National Women’s Sailing Association (NWSA) and Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) have initiated the nomination process for the 2025 BoatUS/NWSA Leadership in Women’s Sailing Award.

Since its inception in 1999, this national award has aimed to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to inspiring, educating, and enhancing the lives of women through sailing. Previous awardees have comprised sailing instructors, authors, competitive sailors, marine industry specialists, and leaders of boating clubs from various backgrounds.

Nominations are open via the NWSA award website and will be accepted until February 1, 2025, with inquiries directed to . The recipient for 2025 will be revealed at the Annual National Women’s Sailing Association Conference Luncheon in St. Petersburg, Florida, on June 7, 2025.

NWSA President Debby Grimm stated, “We take pride in acknowledging the impact women have had on the sailing community and promoting female participation in the sport.”

Discussing NWSA’s collaboration with BoatUS, Grimm noted, “Our goal is to introduce more women to sailing, a lifelong sport that promotes a healthy lifestyle and fosters community connections. Sailing develops leadership abilities, STEM competencies, teamwork, and an appreciation for nature and responsibility. Both our organizations play a role in cultivating the skills and social bonds necessary for sailors to thrive throughout their boating journeys.”
