Measuring over 57 feet, the Azimut Seadeck 6 is the first yacht in a new series that has recently expanded with the addition of the 71-foot 2-inch Seadeck 7. The talented team responsible for this series includes Names Studio for naval design, Alberto Mancini for the exterior profile, and architects Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez for the interior spaces.
“When we began conceptualizing the Seadeck, we considered the priorities of today’s environmentally-aware yacht owners,” states Federico Lantero, Head of Product Design at Azimut Yachts. “We pinpointed three vital aspects: reduced emissions, eco-friendly materials, and the opportunity to engage with the sea in an authentic manner.”
This new perspective on yachting and life at sea highlighted the need for a yacht that was innovative even beneath the waterline, which is where Names Studio stepped in.
“Our collaboration with the Azimut-Benetti Group spans many years, but this marks our first chance to design an entirely new hull,” notes Francesco Rogantin from Names Studio.
Names Studio crafted the efficient PVC and rePET hull.“The shipyard’s direction was straightforward: create the most efficient hull attainable, prioritizing cruising speed rather than outright speed, aimed at minimizing impact on marine ecosystems and reducing operational expenses through better fuel efficiency.”
Weight consideration was crucial, and choosing pod propulsion, renowned for fuel economy and decreased noise and vibration, was deemed essential. The new hull was specially designed to support three Volvo Penta D6-IPS650 pods, a first for Azimut.
Measuring 17.5 meters in length and 5.05 meters in beam, the Seadeck 6 features a broad stern and a sleek bow, enabling it to achieve planing at lower speeds while providing a smooth sailing experience.
“We utilized computational fluid dynamics simulations to assess performance potential: 33 knots at maximum speed and 24 knots while cruising,” explains Rogantin. “Our anticipations were validated and even exceeded during the initial sea trials.”
Designer Alberto Mancini crafted the sleek, clean exterior lines.Even the choice of materials played a role in achieving Azimut’s environmental objectives. The Seadeck 6’s hull is made of PVC, and the superstructure (including parts of the deck and bulkheads) is composed of recycled PET, featuring elements produced from durable and lightweight carbon fiber.
Above the waterline, design by Alberto Mancini showcases tight, clean lines that serve as a foundation for redefining the connection between the vessel and its ecological surroundings.
The essence of the Seadeck 6 is about fostering togetherness at sea while nurturing a deeper connection to nature. The open spaces allow for fluid movement, and the combination of technology with design blends harmoniously. The continuous dialogue between exterior and interior areas eliminates barriers, providing an immersive experience that gently draws you away from daily life stresses.
Gentleness encapsulates the Azimut Seadeck series. The hull design shows consideration for the environment, while the elegant exterior lines please the eye, and the calming interiors nourish both body and spirit.
Open areas like the expansive ‘fun island’ aft deck are signatures of the Seadeck 6.Milan-based architects Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez, known for their conscious design in spas and wellness locales, were called upon by Azimut to shape the Seadeck 6 interiors.
Their vision for seafaring life led to stripping away excess elements, emphasizing the natural or recycled materials used onboard, while fostering tranquility with a gentle, luminous color scheme. Their Seadeck interiors transform the notion of luxury at sea, prioritizing wellness with a living experience that is both profound and essential.
As soon as you step aboard, the eco-friendly approach is apparent through the cork decking, replacing traditional teak.
Sustainable materials such as cork are used for the decking.Cork offers numerous advantages that create a win-win scenario. It is a natural resource that is easier to gather and regenerates much faster than teak, making it more environmentally superior. Moreover, it provides better thermal insulation, enhancing onboard comfort and ensuring excellent traction for safety.
However, the aft-deck setup designed for comfort is what truly captivates. A spacious sunpad looks over a convertible beach platform that reveals a wide staircase when lowered into the water.
This area’s ‘fun island’ design borrows elements from the Azimut-Benetti Group’s Oasis line of superyachts with their deployable side platforms. By lowering the Seadeck’s side platforms, you can lounge on an expansive terrace with easy access to the sea.
The neutral tones of the interior allow the stunning views to shine. The sunpad can be flipped up to disclose storage for toys, and its sliding backrest also transforms to function as a dining banquette. The aft cockpit is covered by an automatic awning, and nearly invisible glass side panels protect the area while maintaining unobstructed views.
Access to the saloon is equally open. The galley, featuring Lapitec countertops—made from durable, heat- and scratch-resistant sintered stone—is divided from the aft cockpit by a drop-down window, enabling simultaneous cooking, serving, and enjoyment.
Saloon windows are so expansive that they almost eliminate the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces. Adding to the relaxed beach house atmosphere is a sizable skylight that allows sunlight to filter through a slatted shade.
The saloon maintains a close tie with the outside, featuring a skylight along with large windows.Materials used throughout are luxurious yet produced sustainably, aligning with the Seadeck’s mission. For instance, carpeting is made from Econyl, a premium fiber sourced from regenerated nylon fabrics and discarded fishing nets.
The Seadeck 6 is designed to host up to six guests across three cabins located on the lower deck. The VIP cabin sits at the bow with a centrally positioned bed and shares a bathroom with a twin cabin.
The opulent full-beam owner’s cabin is situated midships, featuring a starboard bed layout and a portside lounge area, while a crew cabin is accessible through a hatch in the aft cockpit. A washer-dryer in the guest cabin lobby is a thoughtful addition, particularly for families cruising together.
The owner’s cabin features a king-size bed along with a lounging area.Engineered for owners who relish piloting as much as they appreciate close proximity to the sea, the Seadeck 6 emphasizes fuel economy, reduced emissions, and user-friendliness thanks to Volvo Penta IPS propulsion and joystick steering. Comfort is enhanced aboard with a Seakeeper 9 gyroscopic stabilizer, along with solar panels on the roof capable of generating up to 1.4 kW of power.
This additional solar energy can supplement the yacht’s 42 kW lithium battery pack, providing power while in ‘Mild Hybrid Zero Emission’ hotel mode—allowing the batteries to sustain power for four hours during the day or eight at night when anchored with the generators turned off. An additional eco-friendly feature is the engine heat recovery system that warms water.
Giovanna Vitelli, Chair of the Azimut-Benetti Group, remarks: “The Seadeck series signifies a new chapter in our legacy. It embodies the amalgamation of our group’s expertise and cutting-edge technology to diminish the environmental footprint of our yachts.
Larger sister models will follow the introduction of the Seadeck 6.“Sustainability is a term often misused, but it’s a principle we have consciously pursued for over twenty years—not merely in the past few years as it has gained popularity.”
It appears that the Azimut-Benetti Group is going well beyond mere eco-friendly rhetoric and is committing resources to back it up. For those seeking a serene and inviting experience on the water, the Seadeck 6 is not just an appealing product supported by skilled marketing strategies, but a genuine and authentic offering.
