Paul Cayard (USA) and Pedro Trouche (BRA) were engaged in a fierce competition with Lucas and Leandro Altolaguirre (ARG).
Day 2 of the Star South American Championship featured a fleet facing both challenging and thrilling conditions in Buenos Aires. With winds ranging from 22-25 knots coming from 135 degrees and rough seas, the sailors were thoroughly tested during two intense races hosted by Club Náutico Olivos.
Paul Cayard (USA) and his crew Pedro Trouche (BRA) won the first race of the day, showcasing their skill and tenacity by finishing ahead of local favorites Lucas and Leandro Altolaguirre (ARG). However, in the second race, the Altolaguirre brothers made a comeback, taking the finish line first, closely followed by Cayard and Trouche in second position.
After two days of competition with four races completed, the provisional overall rankings reveal Cayard and Trouche leading with 6 points, followed by the Altolaguirre brothers at 8 points. Currently in third, Fabian Mac Gowan and Nicolas Rosas (ARG) have 14 points, maintaining their chance to contend as the championship heads into its final day tomorrow.
“It was a very challenging day out there, a great fight in 22/24 knots. This Championship is turning out to be quite tough, and we enjoy it!” stated Lucas Altolaguirre at the day’s end.
